Kicking off the European Alliance for Knowledge Valorisation (ALL4KV)

In early October 2026, after many months of emails and online discussions, teams from across Europe and the research sector came together to start something new and special: the European Alliance for Knowledge Valorisation, ALL4KV.

What is knowledge valorisation?

Every day, universities and research organisations create new ideas, discoveries and expertise. Knowledge valorisation (KV) is what happens when those ideas leave the lab and start making a difference.

It means turning research into something useful for society and the economy: a new product or start-up, a solution to a company’s problem, evidence that helps shape better policy, or a health or environmental project built with the people it is meant to help.

Our hope is that KV becomes common practice and is front of mind whenever a project or initiative begins. That way, findings remain available after the project ends, and the wisdom they hold stays accessible to everyone. It should not be lost to the sands of time or, more likely, left in an out-of-date toolkit behind a website that is no longer maintained.

Why ALL4KV?

On a rainy October day in Brussels, the new team met in person for the very first time. Everyone is an expert in their own field, and everyone is aware that this task needs collaboration and synergies: not just within the consortium, but across the whole research and innovation community, if we are to reshape the face of KV.

We decided early on to build the phrase “it takes a village” into every aspect of the project.

Who is involved?

The partnership brings together:

  • Association of European Science & Technology Transfer Professionals (ASTP)
  • Research and Innovation Services (RISE)
  • EURICE
  • European Clusters Alliance (ECA)
  • Comité Electrotechnique Belge (CBE)
  • EUSEA

By coordinating this new consortium, we will move knowledge valorisation to the forefront of research, rather than treating it as an afterthought. Research findings and recommendations should be shared and disseminated beyond a project’s lifetime so the wisdom of crowds can play an active role in future research and innovation.

What will we do?

We will produce new technologies and codes of conduct that benefit the four pillars of academia, business, policy and society. ALL4KV will work with these communities through surveys, data collection and workshops, and we will disseminate by example, with open access at the core of everything we do.

EUSEA’s role

EUSEA will manage Work Package 4: Communication, Dissemination and Engagement. Working with the whole consortium, we will:

  • Develop a platform where the project can share its outputs and build a community across the research and innovation ecosystem.
  • Promote the practices that surround KV and the benefits they bring, building a network of practitioners, experts and the simply curious.
  • Create spaces where KV can be discussed openly, through the ALL4KV website and social media accounts, with links into science services, research and innovation partners, enterprise and societal groups.
  • Bring stakeholders together at events and workshops, and through surveys, to gather shared wisdom on what KV needs to look like to be adopted.
  • Turn these findings into a code of practice and other easily digestible outputs.

EUSEA will also help develop and disseminate the project’s key surveys and data collection tools, and use the results to shape the key outputs of the consortium and the wider community.

The first step of a long journey

We know this is the first step of a long journey. As we travelled back from Brussels, we all knew there is a lot to be done, but also many opportunities ahead. It was great to meet the entire consortium in person and to begin working together to make KV a key part of future research and innovation.

As we say, this is not a project to be achieved by ourselves, but through the collective efforts of the entire research and innovation community, and the communities these ecosystems serve. We are excited to share the journey with you, as fellow residents of this village.

Knowledge and insights 4 All.
