“Dear Sir/Madam,
Beijing Science Festival (BJSF) is sponsored by the Beijing, China Municipal government and Beijing Association of Science and Technology (BAST), with the goal of strengthening international cooperation on science popularization and raising scientific literacy. Since 2011, BJSF has become an annual event, with participants from government, academic, and leading professionals from over thirty countries/regions throughout the world. To date, the main site activities of BJSF have received approximately 600,000 spectators.
The 8th Beijing Science Festival will be held from September 15th to September 19th, 2018. This year’s major theme is “The Future of Computing: Cross Disciplinary Applications of Artificial Intelligence.” As such, we would hope that your organization could demonstrate activities that are mostly related to this topic. We are aware that this seems to be a very specific theme, but we are hoping that perhaps we can work together to spark some creative ways of developing activities and shows that demonstrate not only how AI works, but how it is applied in the real world, as well as its potential for the future. For instance, activities in the fields of general computing, pattern recognition, materials and their properties, robotics, physics, electronics, brain science, logic and other fields that utilize AI would all be welcomed. I, and my team, would be happy to brainstorm potential activities with you when you have a chance.
We at the, US-China Scitech Education Promotion Association, on behalf of the organizing committee, are honored to invite 2 persons from your country to attend the 8th Beijing Science Festival with interactive, innovative scientific and technological teaching interactive activities, science shows and experiments. This year, we plan to change our typical program format to include more children in the planning and operation of the festival itself. As such, we propose you consider that for your two person group, one could be a science educator/mentor; and one could be a talented student from a school from your area. Hopefully, we could create a venue to exchange ideas of teaching science in an inspiring and engaging way. We also want to let students have the opportunity to learn through teaching, and to share their own viewpoints. This is what we believe to be the true spirit of hands-on science; and furthermore, we believe this is a great way to help spread the idea that the next generation will need to be able to work together effectively, across borders, to effectively solve the many challenges facing our world.
It would be greatly appreciated if your organization could help us to bring popular science resources to Beijing, to share with other nations and raise global awareness about the need to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. Your travel expenses as well as lodging in Beijing will be covered by our organization. Should you have any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to reach us at the contact information below.”
