2000 Joachim Lerch was founder of the first German Science Festival - the Science Days. This festival and a lot of other projects in science education was developed by him since then. He was also one of the founders of EUSEA and the first president from 2001 to 2003.
Since 1998 he is president of „Science & Technologie e.V.“.
