MaREI is the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine, coordinated by the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) at University College Cork. MaREI has over 200 researchers across 12 partner institutes in Ireland working with over 50 industry partners focussing on the energy transition, climate action and the blue economy. MaREI strives to deliver excellent research with societal impact by supporting industry, informing policy and empowering society. MaREI’s public engagement programme aims to engage people in the work that we do in the context of addressing major challenges facing society like climate change, dwindling fossil fuel supplies and environmental degradation. Our researchers have experience in stakeholder engagement at local, national and international scales, working with NGOs, industry, government departments, local authorities, policy makers and community groups through their research projects, as well as disseminating their findings via media, outreach and community events.
MaREI participates in several annual public festivals where we take the opportunity to showcase our research through interactive models and demos. Our communities programme includes support of community led sustainability and activities for schools and clubs.
